The Heart Unchained
The Heart Unchained is tamed
The Heart Unchained is free
It soars like an eagle
It descends like a dove
It’s pliable enough to both love and be loved
The Heart Unchained is tamed
Its strength is its boundaries
It’s soft enough to be led
It’s wise enough to know it can’t see all that’s ahead
It’s purpose, surrender
It’s first thought, repent
The song it refrains is, Lord, rid me of sin
Teach me
Refine me
Break me with Your stone
So my inclination is to Your law alone
Oh, the Heart Unchained is free enough to sing
The fruit of its lips is the song of Thanksgiving
From it flows life’s fountains of rivers and springs
Oh, the Heart Unchained is free indeed
Free to follow the Shepherd where ever He leads
Oh, the Heart Unchained is tame at its core
Guided by the reigns of the One it adores
More than gold and silver
Precious diamonds and pearls
More than the sweetness of honey
It desires the truth of His Word
It cries, Oh great Carpenter, set me
And chisel me through
So my first inclination
Is to do what You do
To go where You send me
Without complaint or withdrawal
Until my gift to You is truly my all
So I’m shaped in the image of the glorified Son
Then just as the Father and Spirit, we’re one
Oh, the Heart Unchained is both free and tame
It bears the weight of the cross and the mark of His name
It’s life source, forgiveness supplied by His blood
It’s captured and humbled by grace
Arrested and perfected by love
Free and tame
Is the Heart Unchained
